Hansi Flick's Barcelona are reportedly close to completing the signing of Real Madrid target Jonathan Tah, as per Matteo Moretta of Relevo. The La Liga giants are unlikely to make moves in the January transfer window due to financial struggles and Fair Play woes.
They have also failed to register Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo, who joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024. Nevertheless, La Blaugrana are getting ready to offload some players and sign a few new stars in the summer. Jonathan Tah's contract with Bayer Leverkusen will expire in the summer of 2025.
The German defender has entered the last six months of his contract and can sign a pre-contract agreement with another club. According to the aforementioned report, the club will try to close the deal in a few days, with Barcelona expected to offer him a three-year contract.
The hierarchy at Barcelona values the Bayer Leverkusen defender highly, and Hansi Flick has also coached Tah at the German national team. Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia are expected to leave the club in the upcoming transfer windows, and Tah could be signed as an upgrade for the duo.
Tah joined Leverkusen from Hamburger SV in July 2015. Since then, he has made 378 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions. The 28-year-old has also played 33 matches for the German national team.
In addition to the two La Liga giants, Manchester United and Bayern Munich were interested in signing Tah as well.
Barcelona considering loan move for Chelsea player after failing to register Dani Olmo: Reports
As per CaughtOffside, Hansi Flick's Barcelona are considering signing Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku on a loan move in the January transfer window after they failed to register Dani Olmo.
Nkunku joined the Stamford Bridge outfit in July 2023 for a reported transfer fee of £52 million. Since then, he has made 41 appearances for the Blues, bagging 15 goals and four assists across all competitions. However, he has struggled to establish himself as a starter in Enzo Maresca's Chelsea.
Christopher Nkunku has started only three matches for Chelsea in the Premier League, accumulating just 390 minutes in 18 appearances. Unhappy with the lack of minutes, the Frenchman can depart from West London as multiple top European clubs are interested.
